"...Slick and urbane, it would appear to be more at home in
Manhattan then in upstate Ithaca. The look is modern-minimalist
Asian, colorful and vaguely art deco, with a bar and tables spaced
well apart on several levels....The house-baked foccacia with caramelized
onions and calamata olives is to die for. Ditto for the desserts,
which fill sixteen feet of display cases in the restaurant. Pastry
chef Gail Brisson prepares up to 20 patisserie-style treats a night
from a repertoire of more than 50. Weve heard their praises
sung across the city."

"...Madelines has a modern look, with its streamlined
décor and two levels, large glass windows and inviting bar
area featuring an artistically lighted and ample display. We were
comfortably seated there and enjoyed its friendly and casual atmosphere,
fine and efficient service, beautiful and-as an added bonus-smoke
free setting. And we were in for the best meal I have had anywhere
in a long, long time.
To give full credit to the extraordinary tastes and choices at
Madelines is not possible here, but, briefly, the cuisine
is designated as Euro-Asian, or Pacific Rim, and aims to use the
best of Western and Eastern traditions. Lexs background is
in Asian cooking, and every day they start out fresh-fresh ingredients,
stocks, sauces, seafood. He brings in unusual Asian ingredients,
experiments with them, and wants to challenge people on every
single dish we do. His eyes sparkle, its fun to
be constantly learning. (-Jane Dieckmann, The Ithaca Times)
